Grieving the 2024 Presidential Election

Okay, I'm just going to say it: the result of the presidential election sucks ass. I am so angry at my fellow Americans - the one third who voted for this felon, and the one third who didn't bother to vote. WTF were you thinking?

That's a rhetorical question. It's plain what his voters were thinking: "he hates the same people we do! Black people, Latin Americans, and Muslims. Oh yeah, and let's not forget the LGBTQ people.”

(As for those who didn't bother to vote that's fodder for another post.)

Yes, I realize that all those who voted for the orange turd try to defend themselves by saying they were voting based on the economy. If it was truly about the economy, they would have educated themselves on just how a “free market economy” works. The president doesn’t control the cost of anything - hence the term “free market.” (Just a hint - when the government controls the economy, that’s known as socialism.) The president, along with Congress can make tweaks which help or hinder, but there is much that is outside of anyone’s control, like broken supply chains from a pandemic, or bird flu driving up the cost of eggs and chicken.

They might have tried looking up the definition of a tariff.

They might have checked out the history of “trickle down economics” and its many failures.

But they didn’t do any of that, happy to take the word of their racist cult leader.

So an overqualified, black woman with numerous plans to help the middle class lost to a racist, misogynistic, sexual predator whose primary economic plan is to give tax breaks to himself and his cronies. Because you know, they all need another yacht more than America needs an excellent education system, good roads, scientific research and development, a safety net for the vulnerable, or affordable health care. It’s a big “fuck you” to all of that.
